Scientific Name: Semi-synthetic coolant is also named cutting fluid.
Appearance:It’s brown transparent or light yellow transparent liquid.
Introduction:Semi-synthetic coolant is currently the most widely used and most balanced in overall performance among all cutting fluid types in the metalworking industry. It combines the lubrication advantages of emulsifiable oils with the cooling and cleaning performance of fully synthetic fluids, making it suitable for the vast majority of conventional machining applications.
It has 10%–30% oil content.
It contains synthetic lubricants, rust inhibitors, extreme-pressure (EP) additives, surfactants, biocides, etc.
The appearance is translucent micro-emulsion (between milky and transparent) after added water.
Usage: It’s suitable for turning, milling, drilling, grinding, boring, and other processes, as well as various materials including steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys.
Processes: Turning, milling, drilling, boring, light-to-medium load grinding, tapping (with EP additives)
Materials: Carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, and more
Typical Equipment: CNC lathes, machining centers, conventional lathes, milling machines, grinding machines
How To Use:
1.Dilution Ratio:
· General cutting: 5%–8% (1:12 to 1:20 with water)
· Grinding: 4%–5%
2.Water Quality: Recommended hardness 50–200 ppm. Too soft may cause foaming; too hard may affect stability.
3.Concentration Monitoring: Regularly check concentration with a refractometer; replenish as needed.
4.PH Control: Maintain between 8.5–9.5. If PH drops below 8.0, add fresh fluid or adjust.
5.Tramp Oil Removal: Skim floating oil regularly to prevent bacterial growth.
6.No Mixing: Do not mix with other types of cutting fluids. Top-up fluids must be the same brand and type.
